LONG TERM TEST: ROCK SHOX DOMAIN 318

Specs: 180mm travel, 1.5 head tube, 20mm maxle. Price: $575.00 There's really a lot of options these days when it comes to the 180mm fork market. Offerings from Marzocchi, Rock Shox and very recently Fox, have really given riders a lot more to choose from. On the lower end of the price spectrum, there's really only two options: The Rock Shox Domain 318 and the Marzocchi 66 RCV. Last year, when I was finally fed up with my useless Manitou Sherman, I opted for the Domain. The first thing I noticed was the ease of tuning. Preload and rebound damping were only slightly altered from their stock settings before I was entirely happy with them. I prefer a very soft preload setting, and a moderately small amount of rebound damping, and these settings were dialed in with ease. The key to these adjustments is their simplicity and wide range. This Just In- Cannondale's New FAT CAAD w/ LEFTY OLAF

I don't always get super excited, but it looks like Cannondale finally made the bike I had been hoping for. A 4.8" tire fatbike with the combination of the LEFTY this thing is sure to rip. As it sits speced with an X.01 drivetrain and SRAM's Guide brakes, I'm not sure that there is anything I would change, except maybe add a dropper post. Spot Check: Wisp Resort Bike Park, McHenry, MD.

In early 2009, after hearing about Wisp from a friend, and checking out their website, I decided to visit the resort on opening weekend, one week before Seven Springs, about an hour north. I wasn’t sure what to expect, as there weren’t many videos on Youtube or Vimeo, and the website seemed devoid of much other than mentioning an opening day. Regardless, I packed my gear and made the drive down. Upon arrival, I noticed three or four cars in the parking lot sporting the telltale bike racks and rear bumper sticker jobs... definitely a light crowd for an opening day, even one as unseasonably cold as it was. I paid for my lift ticket ($35.00, almost as much as Diablo), and headed up the chairlift. I had heard stories about the Wisp lift being slow, and they weren’t kidding. In roughly 12 minutes, I de-boarded at the top. The trails are, in contrast to the lift, for the most part really fun. I rode High Roller first, as it was the only trailhead I could find.
